Meist wird Puls und Blutdruck gesenkt, die Atmung verlangsamt sich, die Muskelspannung ist erniedrigt, das Immunsystem wird gestärkt und die Ausschüttung von Stresshormonen wird reduziert. Nach Beendigung der Hypnose können Sie sich in der Regel an alles genau erinnern. Sie werden in der Hypnose nicht über private Angelegenheiten befragt, so dass Sie keine Bedenken haben müssen, eine  Jugendsünde zu verraten. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass weniger intelligente Menschen schwerer zu hypnotisieren sind. Es findet also kein  Willensduell statt, bei dem der stärkere Wille siegt, sondern Patient und <span class=SpellE>Behandler</span> verfolgen das gleiche Ziel. Hypnose stellt bestimmte Anforderungen an das Konzentrationsvermögen und an die Vorstellungskraft des Patienten.
